Sagittarius for better or worse.

Today I received the following ...via a random email forward from an old classmate. The picture attached had to go. I do find these kind of critiques interesting though. I'm a...

SAGITTARIUS -
The Promiscuous One
(11/22 - 12/21
)
Spontaneous.  High appeal.  Rare to find.  Great when found...  Loves being in long relationships.  So much love to give..  A loner most of the time.  Loses patience easily and will not take crap.  If in a bad mood, stay FAR away..  Gets offended easily and remembers the offense forever.  Loves deeply but at times will not show it, feeling it is a sign of weakness.  Has many fears but will not show it.  VERY private person.  Defends loved ones with all abilities.  Can be childish often.  Not one to mess with. Very pretty. Very romantic.  Nice to everyone they meet.  Their love is one of a kind.  Silly, fun and sweet.  Have own unique appeal.  Most caring person you will ever meet!  Amazing in bed!!!  Not the kind of person you want to mess with--you might end up crying.

...for better or worse, I always wonder who writes these? And to note, I find the last attribute extraordinarily interesting ...crazy right?!?

Feeling bad for Conan!

Wow. The above video just goes to show a lot of folks were rather skeptical about Leno actually being OK with leaving his roll as Tonight Show host. This was from years ago, when Howard Stern doubted things would go smoothly (even then). Apparently ALL Jay Leno does is w

But hey, one of Conan's writers (Deon Cole) has a different outlook and theory on things, that you may appreciate. That video is below. Please enjoy!

Oh & hopefully the song of the moment mirrors Conan's sentiments towards NBC.

Till next time...

My wagon choice for 2010

Just so you know what I'm talking about when you ask. It's simple. It's a 2010. It's quick. It can haul art. And you'll be one of the few to have one. It's the Honda Accord Tourer (Type S). And though I just realized I should probably be promoting "American Made" in these economical times, it is a Honda folks!

All you have to do is get your pounds (£) together, and take a leap over to the UK to get one.

Oh, and Happy 2010!

I'm FINALLY back to it. Let's Celebrate!!

So yeah folks, I'm finally back on my grind. And for those who didn't quite get that ...I Jonathan Sears am feverishly getting work done at an extremely demanding pace.

As I mentioned in my last post, I have a show quickly approaching out in the midwest to complete a piece for; so therefor art will happen. Above is a teaser of what I've been working on. It's approx. 30 seconds from the three minute animation/video that takes place near the beginning of the sequence (starting around the 35 second mark). The working title for the piece is:
The Spinning Mind of the Determined: A Self-Portrait
I hope you enjoy it. And if you'd like...

Much work needs to be completed, so back to my cave I go.
More info on the show can be found HERE.

Peace,
Jonathan

P.S. I hope you have time to enjoy the Song of the Moment this time around (and if you can't follow quick enough, click the YoutTube link, then click "more info" to the right for the lyrics). And if you enjoyed it, check out all three exhibits HERE!

Back to the pursuits...

This posting is just to say thanks to all who helped me celebrate the other night. I had a good time sipping beverages and roaming the streets of DC with y'all ...till we meet again.

But now it's back to the pursuits. I have about two weeks to finish an animation that will be showing at the end/into the new year. A lot of work needs to be done, so to my cave I go! And I'm sure I'll post some screen-caps or short clips soon, so stay tuned.

Happy Hanukkah (and 12/12 of course).

So yeah, I used to be jealous of my brother because his birthday is 3/27 and eeeeevery once in a while the date coincides, and he's able to have an easter birthday ....which is pretty cool if ya ask me. At any rate, now I'm excited, as for the first time that I can remember my B-Day falls on a holiday. Hooray! Happy first day of Hanukkah to all of my friends of the Jewish faith.

And if you want to help me have a good time today, a few of my planned activities  are below:
  • 9:30a - 12 noon --> Day starts with shopping and the gym
  • 12:15p - 1:00ish -->Early afternoon cocktail at The Embassy Suites Bar (downtown DC/Chinatown)
  • 1:15p - 2:15ish --> Check out the Artistic Aya trunk show at 1336 9th St NW (Click here for details)
  • 2:15p - 7ish --> Let the blowing of the wind dictate the next move, eat, drink, (probably nap) & get ready for the night
  • 7:30p - 8:45ish --> Visit Hamiltonian Artists (gallery) for an opening of fellow Terp, Jonathan Monaghan & co.
  • 9p-10ish --> Dine at Oohhs & Aahhs (U St) or Marvin (14th near Ust), and enjoy some chicken and waffles
  • 10:30 until ---> Nothing's in stone, but bar hopping, "cutting-the-rug" and good times are on the agenda. I'll be posting updates at http://www.twitter.com/JonathanBeach.

I hope to to see ya out at some point.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Feeling YF&N today...

Young, Fresh, & New was my mood when I woke up today. Maybe it's because my birthday is only a couple of days away (itinerary coming soon). Maybe it's because I have an art show approaching quickly to display a new animation of mine. Maybe it's because VA's own Clipse just dropped a stellar album (the featured song of the moment is from that effort -- Till the Casket Drops). Or maybe it's because I found 5 or 6 DVDs the full of old music the other day, and have been jamming out since. To note, the video above is from one of those albums -- Kelis's (import-only) second album Wanderland ...back up your music folks as it always feels good to rediscover lost tunes.

At any rate, I just realized I haven't updated this blog in a while -- simply have been reCollect(ing) Creative of late -- so I thought I'd do so.

And I hope to see you this Saturday to help me celebrate. As of now I know I'll be hittin the Artistic Aya Trunk show & the opening at Hamiltonian Artists (where fellow Terp Jonathan Monaghan will be showing)!

Peace,
Jonathan

Kentridge Takes a Line for a Walk

A few days ago I checked out another screening of the PBS series art:21 (season 5) down at Hamiltonian Artists (Washington, DC). In particular, the selection of episodes aired focussed on compassion, and featured some of the art-world's most recognizable, international talents -- William Kentridge, Doris Salcedo, and Carrie Mae Weems.

The entire lineup was impressive (as one would only hope), but as I want to keep this post short, let me just say "If you don't already know the three names previously listed, please get to know them ...soon." And if you know me, you already know, a fan a William Kentridge is something I definitely am/was. So upon further investigation into his current works, a twist of luck via Twitter and the exploration of a hyperlink or two, I landed upon this fun clip.

It touches on some of the newer work Kentridge is creating, so please enjoy. And if you are a Twitterer like me, let this be further proof of how random 140 character posts can help one build personally.

Peace,
Jonathan

P.S. Please enjoy "Sometimes" by Bilal

Today is a great day. Congrats.

So yeah, today is indeed a great day. Obama does it again! So not only is he the first black president of the US, he's now the first black (err, African American) President of the US with a Nobel Peace Prize under his belt!! Congrats goes out to him, his family, and the White House staff for their diligent efforts to help unite the world as one, peaceful, global entity.

Click HERE and HERE for more on this historic day.

-------------

And while my sentiments (to those who know what's up) are more like the end of Kanye's verse (2:29 on..) of " THE VIDEO OF THE MOMENT "these days, I'm glad we're all part of these historical times. Congrats again to Obama. Stay tuned...

Oh & maybe even more importantly, congrats goes out to you as well Dante' for finding and marrying your beautiful bride Ashlynn (sp?) over the weekend down in Charleston! Sorry that I felt I needed to be an ass hole to you over these past few months. But I'm sure if you understood the extent of the harassment you chose to be a part of, you wouldn't blame me.. And while, I wish you had chosen to trust that my talents and hard work over the years would land me exactly where I belong (without the trickery and sneak-around tactics of others), I understand you were only trying to help, so I'll no longer hold your actions (as well as those of Pete, E., Jefferson, James, Jeff, Brenda, Tia, Kev, Rachel, Pat, Jonathan, Sarah, Meg, Barry, Jack, Joe, Biff, C. & S., Matt, Ryan, Evan, Brandon, Dos, Nick, Shea, Biff, Melissa, K. and the rest of the checklist gang) against you. I've realized plotting revenge would make me no better than Thorpe and his little Sadan sidekick... karma surely has/will catch them. So peace be with you (all) and congrats again D! A lot of us thought we'd never see the day! I'll try to publish the wedding pics I took on Flickr or somewhere similar to give you access to my few wedding-day-candids ASAP.

And thanks again Kev for finding the South Carolina beach fortress. The in-house elevator and pool table were both great looks. So sorry I had to hit that masse to sink the 8-ball on you. To be honest, the curve was so long, I didn't think I had a chance at making the shot either ..But I guess .."when you play with skills good luck can happen." <--(...around the 1:10 mark)

Hit pause...

I'd just like to take the time to ask all of you to hit the pause button for a moment today. While the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 is years in our past, I feel it's something that should never be forgotten. For my generation, it's easily the single most memorable moment in our nations history (even with the awesome/awe-inspiring election of President Obama).

And as I had family, who we couldn't get a hold of for a while, living in NY at the time, I know I'll never forget that day. For me it was the Kennedy or Dr. Martin Luther King moment of my lifetime ...you know, a tragic moment in history when your whereabouts, mood, actions, etc (when word reached you) will never be forgotten. For me it was design class at Barton College ...all classes were cancelled and a professor rolled in a television so we could all see what was going on. How about you?

Peace and a moment of silence to you on this day....

...Thanks,
Jonathan

Can't get enough of...

The Chronic (Lazy Sunday)

Haha, I just want to take the time to shout out Andy Samberg of Saturday Night Live. As an on-again, off-again fan of the show, I must say this guy rarely disappoints. And since the introduction of Hulu, I can't get enough.

Oh and I'm speaking of his music videos mainly. The one I've featured above is simply hilarious. The guy really has some talent. But if you want a more explicit (sorry kids), and if you ask me, funnier video click HERE to here about his excitement about riding on a boat.
(Side note: Poor T-Pain. Sorry Jay-Z decided to kill your career with the release of D.O.A -- Death of Autotune -- at least you had a good run!)
